Celebrating International Women’s Day 2022

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day 2022 (IWD) by shining a light on one of our long-standing employees. Recruitment Advisor, Jas Dhillon, shares her thoughts on her role at Apleona UK.

Jas Dhillon, has been at the company for over ten years. We catch up with her to understand her path to where she is now, her day-to-day role and how she sees recruitment evolving. Jas said:

‘‘I have always had an interest in people and problem solving, and so recruitment was the right career for me! I joined Apleona in 2011 as an HR advisor, and in 2016 I was given the opportunity to progress by joining the in-house recruitment team as a recruitment consultant. Six years later, I now oversee the entire recruitment and selection process for Apleona UK.”

“When a vacancy comes through to me, I have a briefing with the hiring manager to understand more about the role and what they are looking for. I then tailor the job adverts accordingly and I advertise the role on job boards. I then sift and short-list CVs, present them to the hiring manger and schedule interviews.”

Is there a favourite part of her role? You bet!

“I truly enjoy speaking to candidates and getting to know them. Of course, my favourite part of the job is calling the successful applicant and making that all-important offer! It’s always a great feeling onboarding our new starters and being part of their journey – and then seeing them flourish in the business as they progress.”

“An Apleona highlight for me was being nominated for and winning an All-Star Award in 2019 for exceptional work. The thing I love about working here is that hard work and dedication is always recognised.”

She also shared her views on female employment trends since her arrival.

“I have certainly noticed a change over the years. There are more women than ever applying for senior/director roles and I think in part this is to do with employers being more flexible with roles and hybrid working really taking off since the pandemic – allowing that greater flexibility and choice. As a recruiter, I believe having a diverse workforce only makes a business stronger.”

“I am proud to be a female working at Apleona. There is so much opportunity here to progress, with plenty of training and development options. Having been with the business for a long time, I have seen for myself the positive growth employees have made since they joined the business.”

Jas is a shining example on International Women’s Day of the wonderful women we’re fortunate to have working with us. While we’re lucky that Jas is one of many in the business, we’re conscious that there’s always more progress to be made in making sure more women are well represented across Apleona’s operations.
